Fringe & Friends Knit-Along: Week 02

Fringe & Friends Knit-Along: Week 02

My first week on my Fringe & Friends KAL sweater was full of fits and starts. I originally cast on while watching the Olympics and apparently was more into the Olympics than counting. Luckily I realized during the first row when my knit and purl stitches didn't properly align, so I cast on again immediately, this time with the correct amount of stitches!

Things were going great after that and I was making progress until 2 days later...

I had a rough day at work and was exhausted when I got home. I usually like knitting on the porch swing out front after a long day so I headed out there with my sweater. Cut to me dropping one of my stitch markers, my needle getting caught in my increase row, and me getting caught in my cable. 5 rows ripped out of my sweater right at the increase stitch meaning 2 increases had to be rebuilt. In other stitch patterns no problem, but in Fisherman's rib, big problem.

I tried to fix the stitches but in the end I figured it was just better to rip everything out and start over. Did I mentioned that I had joined everything in the round at this point? Jon deserves a sweater with normal looking shoulder increases though, so starting over was my only option really. This weekend I made some more progress and am back to where I was before I had to start over.

I've had a few Instagram questions about knitting Fisherman's Rib vs Brioche and really I don't know anything about Brioche, I only know that it's more involved than Fisherman's Rib. A few links around the internet I found useful in regards to Fisherman's Rib are:
